The Steve Nash Foundation made it possible for Claremont High School Global Studies students to participate in a tree planting project in December 2009. Students planted trees and showed solidarity with Canadian youth delegates at the United Nations Climate Conference that was taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark. Thanks to inspirational Global Studies teacher Mark Neufeld and an amazing group of students who did all the work! Thanks also to “A” Channel TV (CTV) in Victoria for providing excellent coverage of this event. There are not too many places in Canada where you can plant trees in December, but this determined group of young leaders showed us how it can be done! Thank you also to School District 63 (Saanich) for their cooperation and assistance.
